membership terms and conditions

The below Terms and Conditions relate to membership of Women in Super (the Company). Any variations made to these Terms and Conditions may be made by the Company without express written notice to existing members and will be effective fourteen (14) days after the posting on the Company website.

PAYMENT

A valid membership grants the listed member all rights and responsibilities as set out in the Company Constitution.

Membership is activated upon receipt of fees. A receipt will be issued upon receipt of payment.

Membership is non-refundable. There is no refund of any membership fees should you cancel your membership at any stage during your membership year.

Membership is non-transferable and cannot be used by anyone other than the person whose name is allocated to the membership.

The annual Company membership fees shall be such sum or sums as the Board determines from time to time. The Board may in its absolute discretion determine different fees to apply to different groups of Members, including without limitation groups of Members all of whom are employed by the same employer or group of employers.

MEMBERSHIP

No person may be admitted as a Member, unless that person is a woman employed or otherwise active in the superannuation or financial services sector, however, the Board may, in its absolute discretion, determine to admit particular persons from time to time who do not or may not satisfy these requirements.

Applications for membership of the Company will be considered and determined in accordance with rules prescribed by the Board from time to time. Such rules may include the delegation of authority to any person or persons appointed by the Board to consider and determine applications.

The Board and/or its delegate/s may accept or reject an application in its or their absolute discretion. The Company is not required to give any reason for rejection of an application.

On admission, a Member is deemed to agree to adhere to the Code of Ethics (if any).

Membership runs on a financial year basis from 1 July to 30 June.

Membership is only valid during the period up to and including the date of expiry.

Membership privileges are available to current members only.

The range of membership services current at the date of this application are set out on the Company website.

The membership services and access to membership entitlements will be suspended until payment in full is received.

The Member is responsible for ensuring the details of their membership are correct and up to date at all times. The Member must notify the Company of changes to contact details.

Information collected through this membership may be used by the Company for promotional purposes. Members may receive via email or post, promotional news, service updates or other information. Members may at any time unsubscribe from these mailings in accordance with the Company Privacy Policy.

CESSATION / TERMINATION

A person ceases to be a Member if:

  • the person resigns as a Member;
  • the person dies;
  • the Member’s annual Company membership fee has become due and is unpaid at the expiration of two months from the due date; or
  • the person is expelled in accordance with this Constitution.

The Company reserves the right to reject any application or renewal and to suspend or terminate a membership without liability or refund if:

  • the Member fails to comply with any of the provisions of the Constitution;
  • in the reasonable opinion of the Board, the Member has failed to adhere to the Code of Ethics (if any); or
  • the Member conducts herself in a manner that the Board reasonably considers to be prejudicial or otherwise injurious to the Company including without limitation to the character or reputation of the Company.

The Company reserves the right to reject any application or renewal and to suspend or terminate a membership without liability or refund if any of the conditions of the membership are not complied with or there is deemed abuse of the privileges, or a break of the company Constitution.

The Company reserve the right to change, from time to time, the services available to members.

If the Board intends to consider any proposal to expel a Member from the Company, the Board must give the Member concerned a full and fair opportunity to attend the relevant Board meeting at which the proposal for expulsion will be considered and to make an oral submission to it or otherwise provide a written submission to the Board prior to its meeting.

A Member may, at any time by giving written notice to the Company including by electronic means, resign as a Member provided that any amount owed by the Member to the Company, at the time of resignation under this Constitution, shall remain due and payable.

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIPS

The Company offers Corporate Memberships and seeks to create long-term partnerships within the superannuation industry and with government, unions, employers and industry based organisations and bodies.

SERVICES

Supplemental, specialist and customised products may also be made available, on a fee for service basis, at special rates for members in most cases. Such products may include but are not limited to:

  • Seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Networking events
  • Training courses
  • Scholarship programs
