It may surprise you to hear that business leader, Audette Exel, began her journey as a humble social activist and office cleaner. It was her passion for human rights that led Audette to “step out of her tribe” and become a qualified lawyer, before launching a successful business career. She wanted to demonstrate that business could be used as a powerful platform for change and could have a higher purpose beyond profit.
Today, Audette is a Non-Executive Director of Suncorp Group Limited and is CEO of two private placement and corporate advisory businesses, Adara Advisors and Adara Partners.
Combining her knowledge of law with her experience in banking, Audette established the Adara Group, a completely embedded business-for-purpose and non-profit partnership. Adara’s mission is to bridge the world of business and the world of people in extreme poverty, and to support vulnerable communities with health, education and other essential services.
The Adara model is unique in the financial services industry. The Adara businesses, Adara Partners and Adara Advisors, exist for the sole purpose of delivering financial services expertise at the highest levels to clients, with fees generated on transactions going to directly benefit people living in extreme poverty though the work of Adara Development. Adara is recognised as a global leader in maternal newborn child health and remote community development. Adara touches the lives of more than 50,000 people each year.
Audette’s career journey is both fascinating and instructive and her message is compelling. If you want to hear more, please join us over lunch at our next event on Thursday 24 May at Doltone House in Hyde Park, Sydney.
