This panel discussion will consider the role of Australian superannuation and financial institutions in promoting gender equality.  It will examine areas in which this industry is making progress and discuss ways in which current initiatives can be expanded to support policy objectives of closing the retirement income gap and enhancing economic participation, equality and security for women.

The panelists below will share their experiences and provide valuable insight regarding areas where they consider that superannuation and financial institutions have made meaningful progress in promoting gender equality and how we can focus future efforts at all levels of the industry.

Our speakers:

- Carol Schwartz AO, Reserve Bank of Australia, Women's Leadership Institute Director
- Mary Delahunty, Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia CEO
- Dr Samone McCurdy, Workplace Gender Equality Agency Capacity Building Executive Manager
- Cath Smith, HESTA Director

The Employer Gender Pay Gaps Report published by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) in March 2025 revealed that for every $1 a man earns, women earn 78 cents on average. This adds up to a yearly difference of $28,425, of which $11,204 of the difference comes from payments beyond base salary, such as superannuation, overtime and performance bonuses.

Your participation is crucial as we explore actionable solutions.
