1 in 7 people today say it’s harder to be a man than a woman, and 3 in 10 young men believe it will be harder to be a man in 20 years’ time. Young men are notably less positive about the impact of feminism than young women, and 43% of people generally felt there had been some negative impact of feminism.

Super funds play an integral role in gender equality, being closely linked with efforts to improve women’s retirement outcomes. It is important to consider how men, particularly young men, can be re-engaged with gender equality efforts and how men can model attitudes towards women for younger men. 

Ipsos Senior Director of Corporate Reputation Michelle Tustin is joining us for the Women in Super 2025 National Road Show this August, providing key insights on the trends in the data of young male engagement with gender equality.

Michelle will be accompanied by leading men in our industry for a panel discussion, moderated by Women in Super's Policy Advisor Ella Melican. IFM Investors CEO David Neal and Chris Davies TelstraSuper CEO, who recognise gender inequality as a human rights issue and drive change on gender inequality in the workplace through making systemic shifts to improve workplace cultures and representation of women in organisations.

• Michelle Tustin is a Senior Director with extensive experience leading strategic research and advisory programs across the financial services, resources, and public sectors. With over two decades of research expertise, Michelle has led national initiatives for think tanks and policy bodies on progressive topics such as financial literacy and divergent trends in how Millennials and Gen Z engage with money. She is a trusted advisor to boards and executive teams, and a regular presenter on corporate reputation, financial wellbeing, and inclusion. Michelle holds a Master of Business (Research) and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science. Outside of work, Michelle is an avid hiker and dog lover.

• David Neal is IFM Investors' Chief Executive Officer, responsible for executing the firm's strategy and delivering strong results for IFM Investors' clients, shareholders and staff. David leads IFM's global business, with thirteen offices and five investment teams: Infrastructure, Debt Investments, Real Estate, Listed Equities and Private Equity. David joined IFM Investors from the Future Fund, Australia's sovereign wealth fund, which he joined in 2007 as its inaugural Chief Investment Officer before becoming the Chief Executive Officer in 2014. At the Future Fund, he established the investment team and built and designed the Fund's investment model. Prior to joining the Future Fund, David spent 15 years with Willis Towers Watson, where he started his career in the UK. He went on to establish and lead the firm's investment consulting business in Australia. As Head of Investment Consulting at Willis Towers Watson Australia, David led the team providing advisory services to the Future Fund when it was established in 2006.

• Chris Davies has served as CEO of TelstraSuper since 2013, leading the fund's transformation from a Telstra-only offering into a leading profit-to-member fund open to all. With over 30 years' experience in financial services—including senior roles in superannuation and banking—he champions better retirement outcomes for members. Chris has demonstrated a strong commitment to equality and driving change, actively engaging in the Workplace Gender Equality Agency's Pay Equity Ambassador program during its tenure. Named FEAL Fund Executive of the Year in 2019, Chris was recognised for his leadership in digital innovation, strategic growth, and industry advancement. He is a passionate advocate for putting members first, sustainable investing, insurance in super, financial planning and building a fairer, more inclusive super system.
