2025 WOMEN IN SUPER NATIONAL ROAD SHOW WITH MICHELLE TUSTIN AND UMBERTO MECCHI 

1 in 7 people today say it’s harder to be a man than a woman, and 3 in 10 young men believe it will be harder to be a man in 20 years’ time. Young men are notably less positive about the impact of feminism than young women, and 43% of people generally felt there had been some negative impact of feminism.

Super funds play an integral role in gender equality, being closely linked with efforts to improve women’s retirement outcomes. It is important to consider how men, particularly young men, can be re-engaged with gender equality efforts and how men can model attitudes towards women for younger men. 

Ipsos Senior Director Michelle Tustin is joining us for the Women in Super 2025 National Road Show this August, providing key insights on the trends in the data of young male engagement with gender equality.

Michelle will be accompanied by Hostplus Chief Member Officer Umberto Mecchi for a panel discussion, moderated by Women in Super's Policy Advisor Ella Melican. Umberto will bring his perspective on recognising gender inequality as a human rights issue and driving change on gender inequality in the workplace through making systemic shifts to improve workplace cultures and representation of women in organisations.

• Michelle Tustin is a Senior Director with extensive experience leading strategic research and advisory programs across the financial services, resources, and public sectors. With over two decades of research expertise, Michelle has led national initiatives for think tanks and policy bodies on progressive topics such as financial literacy and divergent trends in how Millennials and Gen Z engage with money. She is a trusted advisor to boards and executive teams, and a regular presenter on corporate reputation, financial wellbeing, and inclusion. Michelle holds a Master of Business (Research) and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science. Outside of work, Michelle is an avid hiker and dog lover.
• Umberto Mecchi is a seasoned Marketing and strategy professional with over 30 years' experience in the realms of marketing and strategy and is the current Chair of Industry Super Australia. With a deep-seated foundation in strategic marketing, Umberto has been instrumental in steering groundbreaking brand campaigns to success. His unique position as part of the initial steering committee for Industry Super Australia’s Compare the Pair campaign underscores his integral role in its development and the comprehensive understanding of its historical success. Umberto holds advanced degrees in Marketing and a Masters in Organisational Leadership from prestigious institutions and is a recognized graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
